Job seekers are turning to social networking tools to re-connect with old friends, identify potential job leads, and seek referral sources or recommendations. The Los Angeles Times reports that while people are still heading to traditional job sites such as CareerBuilder.com, and Monster, job hunters also are blogging and reaching out to friends on general networking services such as Twitter and Facebook, as well as to narrower communities such as TheLadders, which is for people seeking salaries of more than $100,000.
Recruiters and employers are also turning to these sites to seek out potential job candidates and learn more about the “person behind the resume.” LinkedIn is a favorite because of its myriad options, including recommendations from past colleagues and the ability to upload examples of work.
